Our Mission

Turn About provides services for children, adolescents, and college undergraduate young adults who are at-risk for or have alcohol, drug and/or behavioral problems and/or who have been victims of family or non-family violence. Turn About is a family and community-oriented program, which assists these young people to stay drug-free and to better manage their emotional and behavioral responses to life's challenges.

Turn About works hard to assist families as a whole to reach their goals both as individuals and as a family by facilitating effective communication, appropriate boundaries and positive family structure. Turn About provides training and education regarding youth, families, substances, violence and behavior problems for students, parents, educators, social service providers, and law enforcement.

Turn About has made great strides in providing services where the youth are located for most of the day: in the schools. We are currently serving all Leon County High Schools, Middle Schools and four Elementary Schools. We are available to all schools for specific, requested needs. We are currently serving two schools in Gadsden County, as well. Lack of adequate funding is the issue with increased availability. The Turn About Staff and Board of Directors want to know that every child in Leon and surrounding counties in need of services regarding problems with behavior, substance use and abuse, violence, and mental health, receives those services.

Due to expressed need, Turn About has expanded services to those undergraduate college students who have substance abuse problems and/or who are victims of violence and/or crime. These students fit our stated mission in that they are still semi-dependent on their parents and are still dealing with many of the same issues as are adolescents.
