TURN ABOUT Awards and Recognition

Recognized by Drug Strategies funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Turn About was chosen as one of 144 "exemplary programs" for adolescents throughout the nation and one of only 8 "exemplary and effective" programs in the State of Florida. Turn About, Inc. was the only program in North Florida to receive this honor.

• CARF accreditation: 2008, 2011 (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities)
• Licensed by the State of Florida's Department of Children and Families.

• All counseling staff at Turn About have a Master's degree or higher.
• Funding awards from the following agencies: Department of Children and Families (DCF), State of Florida Attorney General, Community Human Service Partnership (CHSP) {coalition of the United Way of the Big Bend, the City of Tallahassee and Leon County which pools money to provide funding for needed community services}, Florida Office of Drug Control.

• Tallahassee Democrat, August 29, 2009; Also on WCTV August 28, 2009. [Broadcast statewide.] Attorney General McCollum announced $20 million in funding in Florida through VOCA at a press conference at Turn About. "I suspect people in town don't know about it (Turn About), but we're real proud of it," McCollum said. Children who are receiving services are children who would usually slip through the cracks.

A former Board member, representing Turn About at a Chamber's Women's Forum, described the impact with heartfelt comments about community experiences with Turn About. "Turn About saved my child's life," or "I will be forever thankful to Turn About for teaching my family how to be a family again," are examples.
